Windsor, UK – 13th June, 2019, MyPlus, one of the UK’s leading authorities in disability recruitment and development, gives new members of its Students’ Club the opportunity to ‘Win a Day’ with an organisation who are disability confident in their recruitment and development processes.
MyPlus Students’ Club (MPSC) provides disabled students with the advice and support they need to realise their potential with disability-confident organisations. This leading website offers advice on how to be confident in the job application and recruitment process while also providing access to unrivalled recruiters and job opportunities through a free membership service.
The 'Win a Day' campaign is designed to encourage disabled students to join the MyPlus Students’ Club. Each month a new member is selected to spend a day with a participating employer and gain valuable work experience and insight, which in turn builds confidence and knowledge as they navigate the recruitment process. Current employers participating in Win a Day include; Allen & Overy, Accenture, Baker McKenzie, BP, Enterprise, Herbert Smith Freehills, J.P. Morgan, Macfarlanes Morgan Stanley, Norton Rose Fulbright and UBS.
Will More, an Economics student with OCD from Exeter University, spent his day with J.P. Morgan where he was able to spend time with people from across the business: Will said "My day was absolutely fantastic, the team did such a good job at ensuring there were many thought-provoking people to speak to who were also incredible friendly and welcoming." Will has not let his disability affect his determination to pursue his career goals and has leveraged certain powerful strengths from his situation that he has used to demonstrate his capability.
Will Dudley, a mathematics student from Cardiff University has lived with brain damage all his life which has affected his dexterity, speech and energy levels. It has clearly not affected his focus, drive and commitment to pursue a career in the competitive environment of Investment Banking. Following the MPSC ‘Investing in Talent’ Banking Careers event in 2018 Will joined the club and spent the day with UBS. He said ‘I had a very insightful day and it has made me much more confident that I could become a valuable asset in the workplace. I’d recommend MPSC to anyone feeling that they need to be responsible for their own disability or health condition, because employers are truly on your side.’’
