How To Embed Disability Confidence Throughout The Organisation

Disability Café (DC’1)

On the 9th November, 2009 My Plus Consulting and Meeting Magic joined forces to co-host the first Disability Café. The focus of this first Café was Cultural Change: how to embed disability confidence throughout the organisation in order to make real progress.

The event was hosted by Ernst and Young and was attended by a wide range of companies across different industry sectors; including Goldman Sachs, Clifford Chance, BT, Deutsche Bank and Transport for London.

The evolving rounds of café discussions resulted in key themes emerging. Ahead of these discussions input was provided by presentations from Helen Cooke, My Plus Consulting; Andrew Saffron, a cultural change expert; and Matt Thomas, Co-chair of the Disability Staff Network Group, Ernst and Young.

Feedback from the event has been excellent. Participants really liked the format of the café which gave them maximum opportunity to discuss complex issues, as well as network at the same time. Many participants said that they gained knowledge, understanding and insights into how to better embed disability confidence within their own organistion.

I really liked the café format and there was a good range of people there from a variety of organisations, which is very helpful, especially when discussing this area… I also thought the main facilitator was superb.
